On The First Sunday of Advent

The earth waits in chilly silence, stilled and in shadow. Each element, each rock, each bird, each prowling beast awaits, motionless yet full of the life gifted to it by the King of Kings.

On this day, on this night, set aside time to think on why you are here. What is the purpose behind your coming to this earth? Is your presence here meaningless? Random? Accidental? Unimportant?

Or do you have a purpose, no matter how anonymously you may live out your allotted days? Does a life of virtue make a difference? Should the regretful things you’ve done in your life weigh you down and make you miserable and impotent until you leave this earth, or will you accept the forgiveness you’ve already believed in, the pardon you’ve already been granted, and go forth as a child of royal blood and eternal origin?

In this season where we celebrate and commemorate the coming of Christ the Lord, reflect on why you are here. And consider what you have to do in the time you have left.

May the Father bless you and yours, dear friends.

  1. This topic is something I’ve been wrestling with, honestly. I was speaking to a women with a child who has similar issues as mine and she told me that she felt like we were living in “the Matrix”, that none of this world is real. If I thought that I would have no problem jumping off a bridge. My family are Universalists–they believe the whole world will be reunited with our Father in heaven in the end. This gives them peace and joy—why does it fill me with despair to even consider it? I know God can do with us what he wants, I know he says his thoughts are far above ours, but I struggle with finding purpose. I’m so glad you posted, your encouragement is exactly what I can’t find anywhere else. Bless you.

    • Edwood, thank you for your honesty. It is a rare thing in Christian circles….a sad but true statement for me to declare.

I prayed for you this evening. Be of good cheer and good courage. You are a royal child, and as such, you long for justice. But this graceless age sees very little justice, and the lack is hurtful.

May the Father bless you and yours as you rest in Him.

  2. Greetings! I am here to spread truth, help the deserving, and irritate the wicked. And take care of little creatures. And enjoy the beauty of the world.

How are you? How have you been this year? What a year! Always keep fighting the Good Fight!
